Privacy Policy
Who and what this covers
This is the privacy policy of Caecus.dev. It applies to the guildgifts.caecus.xyz subdomain, which hosts Guild Gifts (the “app”): a tool that lets Discord communities run gift exchanges. Only members of a Discord server that has set up Guild Gifts can use it.
This page explains how the app handles information it receives from Discord and information members give it. It does not cover other parts of caecus.xyz or any other service.
What we access from Discord, and why
- Log in with Discord (
identify). When you log in, Discord tells the app your account ID, username, display name, and avatar. We use that to recognize you and to check whether you belong to a server that uses the app. Nothing else about your Discord account is requested. - The Guild Gifts bot in your server. The bot reads each member's server nickname, the date they joined the server, and the roles it manages for an exchange. It posts announcements, adds or removes the exchange role, and sends direct messages for the exchange. It does not read message content in your server, and it does not read direct messages sent to anyone.
What we store
- Your Discord ID, username, display name, avatar, server nickname, and join date.
- What you choose to add: a custom nickname, a short bio, questionnaire answers, and wishlist links.
- Anonymous messages between you and your giver or recipient, shipping tracking details, and gallery posts and photos.
- Your shipping address, if you provide one (see below).
- Records of sensitive views, such as who revealed an address and when.
All of this is stored on infrastructure Caecus.dev controls and protects with access restrictions. It is not placed in public locations.
Shipping addresses
Your address is shown to exactly three parties: you, the exchange organizers (hidden until they choose to reveal it), and the person assigned to send you a gift (only after names are drawn, and hidden until they choose to reveal it). Every reveal by an organizer or giver is logged. Addresses are never included in lists, emails, Discord messages, channel posts, or exports.
We delete your address 18 months after the end of the most recent exchange you took part in. You can delete it yourself at any time from your settings; if you are waiting on a gift that hasn't been marked received, we will explain first, because your giver may still need it.
How we use and share it
- We use your information only to run gift exchanges you join.
- We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties.
- We do not allow people to see it except as described above, or where required by law.
- We do not use it to train machine-learning or AI models.
Keeping your data, and removing it
- Addresses are deleted on the schedule above, or sooner when you delete them.
- Your questionnaire answers, profile, messages, and gallery posts stay until you ask us to remove them.
- You can disconnect the app from your Discord account at any time under Authorized Apps in Discord's settings.
- To have your account and data deleted, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If how the app handles your information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
